GES, one of the smaller Italian tyre recovery consortiums has taken a very different approach to its responsibilities and has funded two diverse projects to develop tyre recycling technology.

The first was its pyrolysis project, which is ongoing and is showing good results, but its latest development is a promising move in devulcanisation using nanotube technology. This project is being progressed in partnership with the University of Brescia in Northern Italy.
