TRA Briefing Day 2026 to Spotlight Rubber Modified Asphalt Opportunities

–

The Tyre Recovery Association (TRA) has announced that its Briefing Day 2026 will place a strong focus on rubber-modified bitumen and asphalt, highlighting what it describes as a major but underutilised market opportunity for the UK tyre recovery sector

The TRA Briefing Day will take place on 15 September 2026 at the Coombe Abbey Hotel in Coventry and will bring together industry stakeholders, regulators, recyclers and market specialists to discuss emerging opportunities within the circular economy.

This year’s theme, “Rubber Modified Bitumen (Asphalt) – A Much Overlooked Market Opportunity,” reflects growing industry interest in increasing the use of recycled tyre rubber in road construction materials. According to the TRA, millions of tonnes of rubber-modified asphalt mixes are already produced annually across Europe, while adoption in Britain has remained comparatively limited.

The TRA said one of the key ambitions of the 2026 briefing day will be to “renew focus on a serious product opportunity” through presentations and discussions led by a panel of experts.

The programme is expected to cover market data and commercial opportunities linked to rubber-modified asphalt, alongside wider industry developments including regulatory updates, the impact of Digital Waste Tracking, the role of retailers and distributors, sustainable aviation fuel opportunities, and the influence of green procurement policies.

The TRA said the event will continue its wider emphasis on promoting practical circular economy solutions and supporting the development of new end markets for recycled tyre materials.

Participation in the event will be free for TRA members, media representatives, regulators and industry partners, while non-members will pay £70 plus VAT. The fee includes refreshments and a buffet lunch.
