Pyrum Innovations AG has signed a plant purchase agreement with its joint venture, SUAS reTire s.r.o., for the delivery of a Pyrum thermolysis plant for a planned tyre recycling facility in Sokolov, Czech Republic, marking the first time Pyrum has signed a plant purchase agreement for an external facility outside its own sites
The project has also secured bank financing, meaning the joint venture considers the plant fully financed. SUAS reTire has placed a binding order for a Pyrum thermolysis plant which includes three reactors and associated process engineering, with Pyrum responsible for supplying the core thermolysis technology and integrating the other plant system into a central control system.
SUAS reTire is a joint venture between Pyrum and Czech company SUAS Ecology, established in 2025, with Pyrum holding a 49% stake and SUAS Ecology holding 51%. The joint venture is responsible for developing, constructing and operating the facility. Initial construction work at the Sokolov site has already begun.
In 2022, in the Czech Republic, there were around 109,000 tonnes of tyres “subject to take-back,” according to the Ministry of Environment, of which around 85,000 were collected in the same year. Once operational, the three-reactor plant is expected to recycle more than 22,000 tonnes of end-of-life tyres annually, benefiting from existing industrial and energy infrastructure, including a power plant operated by the SUAS Group. Pyrum said this will allow gas generated during the thermolysis process to be used for energy generation and converted into electricity without significant additional infrastructure investment. Commissioning is currently scheduled for spring 2028.
