Bolder Industries has secured an additional €1 million in strategic ecological support from the Flemish Government for its N2TR project at the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, strengthening public backing for the company’s first European industrial-scale tyre recycling facility
The latest funding builds on the €32.3 million grant previously awarded through the EU Innovation Fund, managed by the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA). According to Bolder, the combined support reflects growing confidence in circular manufacturing projects capable of delivering both environmental and industrial benefits.
Once fully operational, the Antwerp facility is expected to process approximately 6 million end-of-life tyres annually, while producing around 18,000 tonnes of recovered carbon black (BolderBlack®) and 21,000 tonnes of tyre-derived oil (BolderOil®) each year and creating more than 50 direct jobs.
Bolder estimates the project could avoid around 606 kilotonnes of CO₂ equivalent emissions during its first decade of operation, roughly comparable to removing 131,000 cars from the road annually. The company also said its recovered carbon black can deliver an approximately 85% lower carbon footprint compared with virgin carbon black.
“We appreciate the continued support and what it signals to the market,” said Bolder Industries CEO Tony Wibbeler. “Antwerp is Bolder’s first European industrial facility, and the right place to prove that circular manufacturing is already realised. Customer demand, infrastructure, and circular policy are aligning here. We’re building to meet all three.”
