A Chinese Reclaim Manufacturer Moves on the Indian Market
As if to compound issues in India, Chinese reclaim rubber manufacturers are now targeting the Indian market. Reclaim rubber is being used as a key raw material in the manufacturing of tyre/tubes and China-based reclaim rubber producers are looking at filling the demand and supply gap in India.
Shandong based reclaim rubber manufacturer Tianyu (Shandong) Rubber and Plastic Products Co. Ltd is expanding its client base in the Indian market. The company operates two sites in Tianjin and Shandong, which together have an installed capacity of around 50,000 tons of reclaim rubber but producing about 200 tons on average daily production.
“We are looking for customers in India, despite the huge domestic reclaim rubber sector. But there still large demand that is met by imports, therefore, India could be a good potential market for us,” said Chadielhalabi, Export Manager for Tianyu in meeting at Tyrexpo India 2019 at Chennai.
The company that exports about 20% of its production to the Philippines, Southeast Asia, and Europe, is scouting for new overseas markets. “We have a large production base in China and are keen on hiking exports,” he said.
Tianyu claims that it’s reclaimed rubber has better quality as well as tensile strength than Indian reclaim, which can be adjusted as per the customer requirements at a short notice. Therefore, it offers products in a wide variety compared to Indian companies. It also offers supply on competitive rates for long term orders.
As part of expanding further in SE Asia, it has recently appointed an agent in Sri Lanka, which has large rubber and solid tyre base. “We have big companies in Sri Lanka, manufacturing tyre/tube, mattresses, conveyor belts, solid tyres etc, and most of the reclaim rubber is being imported from India and Malaysia but now we have been appointed by Tianyu in order expand its base there,” informed Arosha Dias, Managing Director, Taplo Chem International (Pvt) Ltd. The Sri Lankan company also promotes chemicals and food additives with an office in Jiangsu, China.
Tianyu (Shandong) Rubber and Plastic Products Co. Ltd is subsidiary of Tianjin Tianyu Rubber and Plastic Products Co. ltd., established in 2014 with an investment of Yuan 270 million, to comprehensively utilise waste rubber resources from waste tyres and produce a range of reclaim rubber and rubber powder.
It has been accredited with ISO9001 quality system certification and ISO14001 environmental management system certification in 2015. Tianyu also became a member of the Chinese association of tyre recycling as well as a member of the Chinese rubber industry association.
