Scottish tyre recycler UK Rubber moves ahead with shredding plans
UK Rubber Steps Up a Gear
Motherwell based UK Rubber reports that it has finally goat all its permits in place. David Ashurst told Tyre and Rubber Recycling Liberty Steel is right next to the main West Coast rail line and Network Rail had questions about our plant. However, after negotiations with Network Rail and North Lanarkshire Council we got our planning permissions and SEPA gave us authorisation to shred.”
UK Rubber had been cutting tyres and baling in the interim, and when they gained all their permissions, they hired a Tana Shark to get the shredding moving. In early August an Untha shredder will arrive on site to give a finer output to the shred.
Ashurst explained; “We needed to get shredding as soon as we could and the possibility of hiring the Tana Shark gave us a way to get off the ground. The Untha shredder is more compact and is specifically designed to give the shred that we need.
“As business grows, we are seeking funding to buy a full sized Eldan shredder by early 2022.”
As UK Rubber gets its plans into operation it comes closer to the point where it will be the main player in the Scottish tyre recycling sector.
