New Tariff Structure from SIGNUS

SIGNUS, the leading Spanish EPR scheme, has announced a change in the structure of tyre categories in the tariff table, which was explained by the General Director, Gabriel Leal and by the Director of Relationship with Affiliated Companies, Julián Madruga.

SIGNUS Moves to a Weight-Based Tariff

Since the beginning of its activity, SIGNUS rates have been structured according to the use that was given to the tyre and not to its unit weight. This model lent itself to subjective interpretations, causing confusion in the market. For this reason, and in accordance with the concept of fairness, the Board of Directors of SIGNUS has decided to approve a reformulation of the categories based on weight sections of the new tyre to adjust more objectively the corresponding tariff.

The advantages of the new tariff structure over the current structure are:

a) There is only one objective categorisation criterion, the weight of the new tyre.

b) Tyres equal in weight have the same ecovalue, regardless of the application or use that is given.

c) The number of weight intervals is extended, reducing the jumps between categories, adjusting the ecovalue to the costs of the management of each tyre (€ / ton), according to the ecomodulation concept.

d) It is equated with the structures already in force in other countries (France, Italy, etc.).

The new tariff structure, which has already been communicated to producers, has an equivalence table with respect to the current one, to facilitate the declaration of placing tyres on the market in the MITERD Product Producers Registry, mandatory for all producers.

In addition, the rotation of the presidency of the Board of Directors of SIGNUS was announced from Goodyear Tyres España S.A, to Continental Tyres España S.L.U., for the next 2 years.
