Przemysław Zaprzalski Discussing Homogenising Pyrolysis Feedstock

–

Przemysław Zaprzalski, R&D Director at Grupa Recykl, joins The Tyre Recycling Podcast for Episode 92. Przemysław sits down with Ewan Scott to discuss the company’s pioneering work as Europe’s largest supplier of pyrolysis feedstock, servicing plants across Poland, Germany, and the Netherlands. He outlines the critical requirements of tyre manufacturers for consistent recovered carbon black (rCB) and explains how feedstock preparation can be utilised to regulate ash content and drastically reduce chemical tolerances to meet stringent industry standards.

Przemysław also details a comprehensive study involving the analysis of two million tyres across 200 shifts, proving that simply adjusting tyre input ratios is a “dead end” for controlling quality. Instead, he highlights how mechanical homogenisation within mixing silos successfully reduced a partner’s rCB ash tolerance from 3.6% down to $1.2%. Furthermore, the episode explores the upcoming integration of automated sorting with Regom machinery, the impact of seasonal tyre variations, and the critical need to deconstruct tyres to remove halogen-heavy butyl rubber inner liners before processing, avoiding costly downstream oil cleaning procedures.
