Tegeta Green Planet, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), has held an environmental awareness and waste collection campaign in Khobi, Georgia, encouraging residents to dispose of end-of-life tyres, used automotive batteries and waste oils responsibly
Held on 27 October under the slogan “Don’t Throw It Away, Hand It In,” the campaign targeted local residents, vehicle owners, drivers and private sector representatives, encouraging them to hand in the three waste streams, including end-of-life tyres, at a dedicated collection point established in Khobi, Georgia.
According to Tegeta Green Planet, the high level of community engagement was particularly significant, reflecting growing public interest in environmental responsibility. Citizens’ active participation demonstrated the important role that raising awareness about proper waste management and providing practical collection opportunities play in fostering an environmental culture. UNDP and Tegeta Green Planet also distributed symbolic gifts to encourage residents to take part.
The initiative also aimed to raise awareness of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), explaining the role of EPR organisations in managing specific waste streams, the stages of waste management following collection and the legal obligations of importers.
Tegeta Green Planet and UNDP continue to work together on regional campaigns and educational projects across Georgia, aiming to promote responsible waste management and the principles of the circular economy.
