Earthmover Tyres Scotland – Issue 2014-3

Anybody who has been involved in the OTR business knows of Earthmover Tyres Scotland (EMTS) and its prime mover, Bill Dewar. EMTS is an operation that squeezes the last possible ounce of useful life out of OTR tyres. When the other casing handlers and retreaders have rejected the casings, Bill Dewar steps in, trains retreaders how to repair even exposed steel belts, and adds value to what could otherwise be rendered waste tyres.
However, ultimately, there will always be waste tyres, and increasing legislation means that mining companies who, in the past would bury their old tyres or dump them in disused mines, or even just stockpile them on what they considered waste land, now have to find ways of disposing of these tyres.
