One of the big issues for anyone in tyre recycling is what to do with the product. Ask most processors if they have markets for all they produce and they will invariably respond in the affirmative. However, the reality for many is that disposing of the output from their processing line is the most difficult part of the whole process. This is particularly the case in free markets where there is no real valorisation or qualifying of recycling save the economic outcome. This can be witnessed by the stockpiles of tyres processed and untreated that build up around many plants. There is, once you get behind the PR façade, at many processors a real issue with disposing of stock. Many processors who can sell stock find themselves at the mercy of the markets and the financial well-being of their customers.
