Retreading Business and our sister magazine Tyre & Rubber Recycling will be organising a series of panel discussions on The Tire Stage at The Tire Cologne between 9-11 June, bringing together key opinion leaders from the tyre retreading and recycling sectors to discuss some of the most talked-about issues affecting the industry
The first session will take place from 3.30 to 4.15 pm on Tuesday, 6 June, and will address “The challenges of promoting retreads to fleets and governments.”
It has long been accepted that, over many years, the retreading industry has often fallen short in its ability to promote the benefits of retreading to both fleet customers and governments, whether that is explaining the sustainability and total cost of ownership benefits to truck and bus fleet managers or in persuading governments to back the industry with legislative and financial support in its battle against low-cost, single-use tyre imports.
Leading the discussion on this important topic will be Retreading Business Publisher, David Wilson. The expert panel will consist of Anna-Maria Guth (AZuR Network), Darren Lindsey (British Tyre Manufacturers Association – BTMA), Michael Hutt (Retreading Business), and David Stevens (Tire Retread Information Bureau – TRIB).
Session 2 will take place on Wednesday, 10 June, between 4.00 and 4.45 pm and will feature a discussion on “EPR Schemes and their Role in the Waste Tyre Sector.”
Waste tyre arisings are managed under a variety of systems worldwide, many of which operate under Producer Responsibility (EPR) Schemes. In this session, Richard Wilson, who will shortly take on the role of Editor of Tyre & Rubber Recycling magazine, talks to key executives from EPR schemes across Europe, North America and Australasia about how they operate in different regions.
Panellists currently include Lina Goodman (Tyre Stewardship Australia), Fredrik Ardefors (SDAB – Sweden), and Rosemary Sutton (Tire Stewardship BC – Canada).
On Thursday, 11 June, from 11.00 – 11.45 am, the topic returns once again to retreading with a session on “Automation and its role in Optimising the Cost-Effectiveness of the Retreading Sector.”
Technology, and in particular automation, has, in recent years, played a major role in helping the retreading industry become more cost-effective. In this session, speakers from four retreading equipment manufacturers will discuss the challenges and benefits of automation and how their technologies benefit the retreading industry.
Panellists are Enrico Fiore (Rover Research), Mario Goldmann (Italmatic), Ronald Noppers (VMI), and Arthur Wagner (Regom).
