On 9 June 2026, Tyrewise will host a webinar examining the use of crumb rubber from end-of-life tyres in road construction, with a focus on asphalt and chip seal applications
Titled The Fundamentals of Crumb Rubber in Road Infrastructure, the session will be presented by Anna D’Angelo, Director of Industry Partnerships and Technology at the National Transport Research Organisation (NTRO).
The webinar will highlight the growing role of crumb rubber modified (CRM) binders in delivering more resilient and sustainable roads. According to Tyrewise, the use of recycled tyre rubber in road infrastructure offers several advantages, including improved durability, whole-of-life cost efficiency, resource efficiency, and compatibility with existing road standards and guidelines.
Topics covered during the session will include the current state of recycled rubber use in Australian road infrastructure, the fundamentals of crumb rubber as a binder modifier, and the differences between asphalt and chip seal applications.
The webinar will also explore different crumb rubber sources, including passenger car, truck, bus, and off-the-road tyres, as well as wet and dry mixing processes, associated technologies, equipment requirements, and practical implementation considerations.
The online event is scheduled for 11:00 am NZST on 9 June 2026. You can register here.
