Pyrum Innovations AG expects its planned tyre thermolysis project in Sweden to gain momentum by the first quarter of 2027, following a €24 million grant commitment awarded to its project partner, GreenTech Recycling Tires AB
Pyrum and GreenTech plan to build a joint thermolysis plant with an annual end-of-life tyre recycling capacity of 22,700 tonnes. Pascal Klein, CEO of Pyrum, commented: “This grant commitment makes a significant contribution to the project’s financing, and we are delighted for our project partner, GreenTech. As a result, we expect this project to gain momentum by the first quarter of 2027 at the latest.”
Environmental, construction and operating permit applications are currently under review by the relevant authorities. Additionally, a site has been identified for the future plant, selected for its size, existing infrastructure and transport links. The adjacent site also houses a thermal power plant that will utilise the gas generated during the process in the future.
Pyrum said the grant commitment represented positive progress for the project, which forms part of its wider efforts to expand its thermolysis technology through industrial partnerships.
