Ecomondo has revealed a high-profile scientific and institutional conference programme for the trade fair’s 29th edition, scheduled to take place from 3rd to 6th November at Rimini Expo Centre.
Conference and Workshop Agenda Published by Ecomondo
Over 70 events, conferences, and workshops—organised by the event’s International Technical Scientific Committee in Rimini, Italy, in collaboration with European and international partners—will provide a comprehensive overview of the major challenges reshaping the global ecological transition.
Below is Tyre & Rubber Recycling’s curated look at the key sessions focusing on resource efficiency, packaging, and the circular economy:
Focus on WEEE & Batteries
The “Circular Economy in Action: e-waste and waste batteries best practices” event, organised with ERION, will provide an overview of European recycling standards for Critical Raw Materials, assessing how WEEE and battery recycling can reduce Europe’s import dependence.
Plastics & Resource Efficiency
The “Plastic circularity: new perspectives and critical issues” session will explore European measures supporting the transition toward a circular plastics economy through efficient resource utilization.
Circular Built Environment & Construction
“Scaling the circular economy in the built environment: urban mining” (with GBC Italy and the Polytechnic University of the Marche) will analyse the regulatory and technological frameworks supporting urban mining models. Meanwhile, “Tools to accelerate the development of the circular economy in the construction and infrastructure sector” (with ANPAR/ASSOAMBIENTE) will facilitate stakeholder discussion across the built environment.
Critical Raw Materials & Strategic Corridors
“EU-Africa Strategic Corridors to a mutually beneficial cooperation for critical raw materials” is hosted in collaboration with Turin University, the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC), the Italian Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security, and MIMIT.
Measuring Systemic Circularity
“Measuring circularity from a systemic perspective across the entire value chain” marks the fifth edition of the workshop organised alongside the Sant’Anna High School in Pisa, ENEA, and UN Global Compact Network Italy.
Packaging & Waste Management Regulation
The Technical Scientific Committee will host sessions addressing the Circular Economy Act, evaluating implications for European packaging (with CONAI) and practical operational impacts for waste management operators (with UTILITALIA).
Textiles & Circular Cities
Ecomondo’s Textile Working Group will address Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) harmonisation, Eco-design, and Digital Product Passports alongside the European Commission’s JRC, ENEA, ASSOAMBIENTE-UNIRAU, and AISEC. Urban sustainability sessions co-hosted with CNR, ANCI, the UNESCO Chair on Urban Health, and Bologna University will examine climate-neutral governance, resilient infrastructure, and smart city technologies.
Paper, Soil & Bioeconomy
The Paper District Summit will focus on supply chain synergies with large-scale retail, while Comieco and Nomisma present NRRP-funded paper recycling assessments. Soil restoration and bioeconomy tracks feature the 5th States General for Soil Health, the 28th National Conference on Composting and Anaerobic Digestion, sustainable forestry sessions with Confagricoltura, and the Agrifood Next bioeconomy forum.
Water Cycle & Blue Economy
A dedicated series of events with the Emilia-Romagna Region, ARERA, UTILITALIA, and regional universities will address coastal climate resilience, emerging contaminant treatment, smart water networks, and industrial water efficiency.
International Cooperation & Mattei Plan
Euro-Mediterranean panel discussions will cover Euro-Med water resilience, ocean protection, and end-of-life resource recovery. The 6th Africa Green Growth Forum, organised with the Mattei Plan Task Force and RES4Africa, will spotlight sustainable water and agricultural value chains in Africa.
