Argentina’s National Institute of Industrial Technology (INTI) is coordinating the Permanent Works Commission for the Recycling of Waste Tyres in forming a programme to collect and deliver tyres found in the country’s national parks to the Regomax recycing plant.
Argentina Looking to Recycle More Far Tyres
Argentina has tyre arisings of around 130,000 tonnes per year but currently only recycles a small fraction of that figure.
The project has garnered the support of just 10 per cent of local authorities in the Buenos Aires area, at this early stage.
“Regomax has a tyre recycling capacity of more than 12 thousand tonnes per year, but there are still 120 thousand tons that have an uncertain final destination. This is why INTI is promoting new lines of work to promote treatments such as co-processing in cement kilns in different regions of the country, “said Karina Potarsky, a graduate of INTI’s rubber division.
“It is fundamental that all the municipalities of the nation commit to this project to be able to give an appropriate final disposal to waste tyres and to advance the solution of the environmental problem that they generate,” concluded Potarsky.
