Barnsley-based Exo-Track has begun its first production run in recycling rubber tracks from agricultural and construction vehicles.
Initial production is of >20mm Crumb from rubber cleated tracks. The process has been developed to give a very clean end product. Engineer Kevin Exton says, “We have put a great deal of work into getting the product as clean as is possible. I can happily say that our crumb is 99.9% wire free and, as such, is eminently suitable for use in equestrian surfaces.”
Exo-Track has the capability to remove the steel cleats from iron cleated tracks, and is currently working on productionising its cleat removing technology.
Exton says, “We have a high-quality rubber product that is not contaminated by wire or textile. We can also sell a clean, baled wire to steel producers and the cleats to come from the iron cleated tracks are high value ductile iron that can be used in foundries.”
The next stage is to bring our granulator on line and then we can expand our market into the granulate sector. Our goal is to establish a complete line producing crumb, granulate and powders.
“We already have an expanding client who is able to take a considerable volume of our production, and as that client expands, so too will Exo-Track.”
Exton told Tyre and Rubber Recycling that one of the world’s largest producers of rubber tracks was prepared to endorse the service and had run tests on pre-production rubber reincorporated into new tracks and had positive results.
Other track importers and manufacturers were also interested in the service provided by Exo-Track.
