The VSK Recycling Group is engaged in recycling of waste tyres and other waste, but, according to environmentalists, does not have permits for such operations.
High Pollution in Ukraine
According to the environmentalist, who approached the company with complaints from local residents; as a result of the VSK Recycling Group the surrounding area is badly polluted. Some two kilometres from the plant are a sanatorium and a school where the children have respiratory problems.
It is reported in Ukrainian media that after the complaint the police arrived and the plant manager promised to bring the plant up to standard and obtain all of the required permits. In the meantime, a moratorium on work was imposed for ten days over the Orthodox Christmas and New Year.
